What is a website consultation?
Website consulting is for people who want to pick my brain for an hour.
I'm most experienced with WordPress, Wix, and Shopify. With some research, I've also been able to help people with basic BigCommerce, Squarespace, and Kajabi questions. If you have a site you'd like my help with, you're welcome to reach out. I'll be honest about what I can help you with.
Why would someone need a consultation?
You need specific help.
Maybe you've started to DIY your site but you've gotten stuck on something.
It's quicker to ask for my help than to take a whole course or try to sort through answers from Google.
You need help getting started.
Maybe you'd like to start a website, but you don't know which platform is best. I can help you figure out what your needs are and research the possibilities.
You want someone on your side.
You'd like to talk it over with someone who can recommend what is best for you.
Maybe the question is - Should you just leave your store on Etsy? Or you have an e-commerce store on one platform and you'd like to know if you should switch.
You need accountability.
Meeting on a schedule can help make sure you are making progress, and answer specific questions if you run into things you need help with.
How can a consultant help?
In any of these situations, I can help.
I've walked people through the WordPress dashboard and creating their first post.
I've helped people create their first newsletter on Wix.
I've answered design questions about Beaver Builder (WordPress).
And I've been the motivation for getting things done ("I knew I had to do something since I was meeting with you," my client said)
My clients love having someone who will help them figure out what they need to know when they need to know it. And they appreciate that my priority is helping their business.
Aren't there classes available?
Yep! There's no shortage of information, classes, YouTube videos, blogs, even Facebook groups with information about how to build websites on various platforms.
The problem is that they don't know you and your business and your situation. So, yep, that's definitely an option and I'd recommend it if you have the time and patience. If you want specific, personal help, consulting might fit better.
I'm on your side.
I make it my business to find out how to help you and to help you with what you need. Then you can work on your business, not spend your time searching for answers to your website issues.
If you'd like this kind of personal help with your website, I'd love to hear from you! I have several slots open for late spring/summer 2022.
Website assistance is available in 5 or 10 hour work blocks.
What that means is that you and I determine a list of tasks you would like for me to complete for your website, such as adding photos, redesigning pages, or connecting your email marketing platform to your website.
I work on that list for the amount of time you have purchased in your work block.
At the end of that time, I let you know how far I have gotten and we make a plan from there. You can purchase additional work blocks if you would like for me to do more work.
An introductory 20 minute call is required to get started, at a rate of $50. If you book at work block, that amount will be credited toward your work block.
Cost: Website work blocks are available in 5 and 10 hour blocks. A 5 hour block is $300 and a 10 hour block is $600.
What platforms do you work on?
While I mainly work in WordPress, Shopify, and Wix, as an engineer, I'm comfortable jumping into new environments and software.
If you have a site you'd like my help with, you're welcome to reach out. I'll be honest about what I can help you with.
Can you give me an example of website assistance?
Someone with a Wix site needed a re-designed home page. We used her new brand elements - logo, colors, fonts, and style - to re-design the page to make it more appealing and easier for her to update on a regular basis.
Someone with a WordPress site wanted help with fonts and spacing before she launched her site. She especially needed help with making the mobile version of her site look great! So we checked spacing, made all the fonts the same, and checked everything on mobile.
Website audits include an evaluation of your website and recommendations for improving your site's design, usability, and functionality.
I'll go through your site, including the major pages and types of pages, and record my feedback. You'll get a list of my recommendations for improving your website.
Prior to the audit, I will send you a list of questions about your website and business that will help me understand how you want to use your website. I can make better recommendations when I understand more about how you use and would like to use your website for your business.
